This bible was given to the Young Maharajah Duleep Singh by Lord Dalhousie, Governor General of India, as part of his forced conversion to Christianity.

The bible inscription reads:

"To his Highness Maharajah Duleep Singh. This Holy Book in which he has been led by God's Grace to find an inheritance, riches far (greater?) than all earthly kingdoms is presented. With sincere respect and regards by his faithful friend Dalhousie. April 18th 1854".
