Sikh Shield

Indian shield (dhal), late eighteenth century. This shield was probably made in Lahore, but, it would seem, became part of the collections given to Queen Victoria, being transferred from Windsor Castle in 1970.  It is decorated with gold koftgari scrollwork and lined with crimson velvet.
