Patwant Singh Dies - Saturday 8th August 2009
The Sikh community has today lost one of its great stalwarts. A man of immense integrity, vision, and courage whose conscience never allowed him to keep silent on issues that he felt were important. Champion of the underprivileged and a towering inspiration to a whole generation of young Sikhs.
This Sardar was defined by his grace and nobility as much as he was by his conviction and intellect. His departure leaves a permanent vacuum. A loyal friend of the Maharajah Duleep Singh Centenary Trust whose last public appearance was at the unveiling of the memorial plaque to Maharani Jind Kaur in London on 15th July .
A full obituary will follow next week.
"Integrity combined with faithfulness is a powerful force and worthy of great respect."
