In search of Jindan, The Last Maharani of the Punjab
Heritage Shared 2009
From the last Maharani of the Punjab to the first Sikh woman to settle in Britain, Jindan's life spans the most turbulent and intrigue-filled times of the Lahore Court. She is on the precipice of power, gazing at the fading sun of the Sikh kingdom; then a prisoner and exile; embroiled in battles to be reunited with her son, Maharajah Duleep Singh. Often referred to as the ‘Messalina of the Punjab', her life was shrouded in mystery and propaganda.
